Ottawa Softball Post Game 7, SBW Comp vs Where My Pitchers At

Softball captain Krystle’s forward message:

Ottawa softball forward message from Krystle. It turns out not a lot has changed since 2014, it’s now 2020 as I add this forward and I still can’t spell those words and so so many more. Sometimes however, I just make my own spelling, perhaps Dylan could add the list of words to his creative piece he owes the team! Example: Kay-so , hahaha, come on man that’s awesome!

Ottawa Softball Player of the Game: Denis

Between the diving catches and the fact he plays guitar he was clearly a shoe in for this weeks player of the game

Play of the game: Eric’s snag at pitcher was smoken hawt, but Jith’s running catch to cover off Krystle’s slow ass in RF was a close second

Lessons Learned: It takes a long time for stiches to heal , enderance to build and general recovery from having a baby. Don’t call off the play/double play if you’re not part of it or you’re not Eric. Need to get our bats rollin’, beer/pizza rocks.

Highs

  • Shirley’s made on base %
  • SHIRLEY RUN!
  • Jith running catches all over the place at Rover
  • Pizza sale
  • Baby Blake
  • Getting to see side bum from rodney
  • Pizza shaming Jith
  • Finding out that there will be singing at next weeks game!
  • Kalina finding some of our team chilling @ the wrong diamond and bringing them to us
  • The SB&W band!

Do you play guitar.. or just date a guitarist….

Lows

  • Eric walking 2 people
  • Krystle not understanding numbers and batting
  • losing some of our team to another diamond lol
  • Baillie out

Bonus section:

A list of words Krystle can’t pronounce or spell

  1. Mortar
  2. Lettus ( aparently there is no s..)
  3. Windmills (says windmeals)
  4. Hi-Low (should be high)

Check back next week for another Ottawa softball postgame from the RA Centre.

Ottawa Softball Post Game 7, SBW Beer vs Bee Atches

What’s happening in Ottawa on a Friday evening besides softball? Nothing!  This softball game held in Ottawa was the best thing you could do on a Friday night. I have to say, as I go back and edit these old post games in order to bring them up to our current standards, I can’t believe how far we have come. How far our team has come in skill, in uniform, in every single aspects. Our website for certain has changed over the years and only for the better.

Player of the Game: Alex in the 1st softball game and Kalina in the 2nd. Kalina was ridiculous at 2nd base, some outs, lots of action, def some cover off, also play of the game! Alex, a boss at 1st def. a great fit, also pushing extra bases.

Play of the game: Alex kinda didn’t run it out but then he forced 2 extra bases on that play and the next both with slides (1st game). 2nd game Kalina totally saved some butts on the infield fly ball! hahah that my friend is the definition of team work!

Lessons Learned: Having a baby means a lot of recovery,

HiGHS’s

  • Eric’s batting as usual
  • Kalina
  • Alex sliding
  • Alex and Jim’s fan’s were hilarous, I love it.
  • Baillie helping us out by keeping score
  • Baby Blake slept the whole time and I didn’t have to feed him!
  • OMG BABY BLAKE ONSIE!
  • Bree, Kalina & Rodney coming out
  • Jamie had some aweome throw ins
  • Jith had some awesome cover off
  • Bree with that beauty foul tip out

Lows

  • Sarah didn’t feel well
  • omfg Krystle AB…
  • fucking Orleans man.. I swear.. to gawd..  last easy out of an inning..
  • I forgot to take money from Bee & Kalina
  • Alex “hitting the ball twice” are you even from this planet.. I mean come on….

Ottawa Softball Post Game 5 & 6, SBW Beer vs Foul Balls

What a beautiful night for Ottawa Sports especially the good ol’ game of softball. The softball diamonds at the RA Centre were freshly groomed and there was a warm summer breeze coming off the Ottawa Rideau River.

Player of the Game: Denis with lots of catches at rover.

Lessons learned: Everyone has bad days, even softball players

Ottawa Softball Game 1:

  • Pro Eric batting in the park home run, stand up triple, couple of other on base hits.. just lovely all around. You’re cute and our captain
  • Something about dressing up, I think (I can only read TBIL, Sarah, Eric, and something that might say Allison for makeup.)
  • High (apparently the above does not count as highs…)
  • Jith and Eric found out that thy were at the same game last year (Toronto vs KC in Sept 2013) (also Jith mentioned we saw 4 golden glove winners in that game.)
  • Sarah fouled and hit Bruce in the shoulder, but we love you Bruce, thanks for the website.
  • TBIL’s diving throw to first
  • strong start to the game, wish all games start strong
  • Eric made double plays, I am shocked that wikipedia explains that in so little words

Low:

  • Jim hurting his elbow

Game 2:

Player of the Game: Tiffy

It isn’t Ottawa Sports without an in the park homerun while her nursing bra unclipped and hat fell off.. freaken trooper still came  in, I know I am bias cause I am a new Mom.. but come on that is both player of the game and play of the game worthy!
  • Baillie played with bad knee (Jith had this in game 1 but it wasn’t too bad until part way through 2)
  • Tiffy in the park home run
  • **Eric being considerate and something for Jim who had a bad elbow.
  • Alex had a few great catches/grabs at first

Ottawa Softball Post Game 4 – SBW Comp vs Red Tape (H)

Is it even softball here in the city of  Ottawa, or Tuesday,  without being rained out and we get rained out again! We did luck out to get 2.5 innings in this time at least! Sarah was kind enough to take down some highs and lows for this softball game that would have happened in Ottawa but kind of happened and in the end that did not happen. While this game was happening , Captain Krystle was giving birth or recovering from said birth to our first Baby Bud . Blake David Awmack will join us on Friday.

If you want to be part of this great team, please send us a message! You don’t need to play sports, there’s lots of ways you can get involved in all the things we do. We play multiple sports, we host events and tournaments and we give back to the community. If you want to submit content to the website send to a captain, we would love to hear from you.

Ottawa Softball game Highs

  • Eric had a sweet triple
  • Costume day’s are always fun , way to coordinate.
  • Justyn had a four ball walk- great, always with the  patience

Ottawa Softball Post Game 4, SBW Beer vs Bag Stompers

With the failed attempt of a rain out.  Our amazing Ottawa softball team won.

Player of the Game: JAMIE

Batted 4 for 4 , was part of a amazing double play that he throw in with accuracy from the FENCE. NOT!! to mention he secured our WIN  in this amazing game by catching  a  POP FLY  from the left field.

Honourable mention goes to Jim: Also Batted 4/4 and came in on 3 of the 4 runs.  lots of outs defensively.

PLAY of the game: JAMIE , ERIC and JITH amazing double play.  Yes it was do to some errors on the opposing team, however it can’t be over look  the skills and team work that it took our skilled players to pull off this play. Team work, awareness, and skill

Lessons Learned:

1. Always have enough ladies to play ball! losing their rover really helped our team

2. It’s never a rain out.

Highs

  • JIM: Batted 4 for 4  and was able to run in  3 of his 4s

  • Bruce writing this for Krystle, as I lay dying on couch
  • Watching OT hockey game with Sarah, Eric Jith and the nice waiter, shutting down the RA patio AND inside bar lol
  • Joy is the best waitress.
  • Eric got us pizza

Lows

  • Not having our number 1 fan
  • BAILLIE left us at the bar, nooooooo
  • I missed Kalina tooo, she went home and didn’t come to the bar
  • DREW MIA again
  • ERIC trick play “Hiding ball tactics that could only work in movies  but not the good kind of movies”

Ottawa Softball Post Game 3, SBW Beer Vs Bag Stompers

Friday night at the Ottawa Softball game, it was another beautiful sunny night that saw a lot of spares out playing.

Player of the Game: Rodney

Rodney had two of the more impressive outs as our softball Short Stop in Ottawa,  but was also huge on team spirit and base coaching. Even when I was desperate for runs and doubted their second basemens capability of catching Eric’s fly ball (urghhh should not have swung) Rodney was calm and told everyone NO stay on your bags! Tons of talent , even more team spirit, this game def. goes our to our friendliest spare Rodney.

Play of the game: TBIL & I base coaching (he was in the hole) Jith and others on a CLEAR infield fly ball that the umpire decided should be a triple play for the other team. SOME HOW that shit worked out, Jith came home on it AND everyone advanced.. no one is entirely certain what happened that play, but it was shake your head, roll your eyes ridiculous so I am giving it play of the game.

Lessons Learned: It’s not over till it’s over. Take the walk if it matters. We will need to ask Dave to watch their batting order next game.

Highs

  • Bruce coming out to watch!
  • TBIL yelling “yours, yours, yours” for Rodey to grab the fly ball behind him
  • Jith tracking the ball and scaring us a little
  • That entire last inning
  • Kalina, Tiffy , & TBIL taking walks that lead to our huge 7th inning, huge team players.
  • Kalina lots of outs at 3rd she made look breezy
  • All the excitement over Samantha and I organzing sofbtall
  • everyone making fun of my Quebec French
  • LOBLAWS BAGS ARE SOFTER?
  • Martin coming out to cheer and base coach
  • Skunkapine came to watch for a bit!
  • Baby Sky watched!
  • Eric’s slide, everyone’s always a fan of a proper slide
  • Shirley’s parenting stories, Kalina and I hope we have that relationship with our sons!

Lows

  • God damn it Eric..
  • Our bats this game! eeeekkkk
  • Can we blame that new ball?
  • There was a guy on the other team that batted 4-5 times and another who batted twice..
  • No Joey at the patio for my bday 🙁
  • My Boo getting hit in the head with a frisbee thrown by some kids on the patio
  • My boo giving me crap for giving said kids look of pure death..

Ottawa Softball Post Game 2, SBW Beer Vs Roger Dorns

Ottawa Softball post game

Friday night was a beautiful one to play softball against the Roger Dorns here in the city of Ottawa. We had a late start due to the game before ours being delayed waiting on an umpire to show (even though we played an entire game waiting for a real ump to show last week…burn!). The postponement didn’t faze the Suds, Buds & Windmills however, driving on to win 12-7; most likely owing to all the team bonding we did at the First Annual Kickoff BBQ last Friday night! It also helped to have an AMAZING volunteer umpire; she should be hired by the RA Centre! Every Bud on the team played really well and their determination to have fun and win paid off. We’re 1 for 1 team, let’s keep the momentum going!

Player of the Game: Eric

Much to Krystle’s dismay (and secretly, joy) Eric played a fabulous softball game, making every out he snagged look effortless. He even managed to throw in a fancy 360° spin, “Jith-style” making it the end of an inning and allowing us to get those bats going yet again. Even Krystle yelling “you’re not getting player of the game, you’re the captain!” didn’t deter Eric. Captain or no captain, by the top of the 6th, it was clear that he was striving hard for the chance to be “Player of the Game” and he definitely earned it.

Play of the game:

We have two softball plays that stood out this game: Eric’s leaping catch that lead to a double play was really impressive and helped us end an inning, and TBIL’s dirrrrty home run accomplished by keeping his head up and continuing to run the bases while the other team made errors and overthrows.  Real heads up baserunning for Ottawa Softball.

Lessons Learned:

Just because someone is dressed like an Ottawa softball umpire, it doesn’t make them an umpire.

Highs

  • Peanuts!
  • Eric’s big save getting the third out (and ignoring Krystle yelling at him)
  • Kalina being pretty (not my words, taking these right out of Krystle’s notes)
  • Sarah continuously burning the left fielders. They were never ready for her!
  • TBIL’s pitching! Great game buddy!
  • Josianne hit 4 for 4 even though her legs were KILLING her after soccer earlier this week
  • TBIL’s leadoff home run that was way more impressive then any out of park HR!
  • Josianne with her awesome hit
  • Jamie and Denis had a lot of patience waiting for the right pitches
  • Jamie with some great throws from the fence to the infield
  • Denis taking an extra base, which was risky but it worked!
  • Sarah with her awesome hit
  • Jim with his socks pulled up, looking like a fashionable pirate
  • Jim and Eric with two outs in a row
  • Alex’s stretch on first to get the out!
  • Denis hit 3 for 3
  • Eric hit 2 for 2
  • Dave used a red pen so it looks really pretty – Drew high about score sheet
  • Every single player came in this game, had at least a run. (technically Eric got stranded but only cause we maxed the inning with 7 runs)
  • There pitcher/cappy was super nice about us mixing up the batting order
  • Bruce coming out to watch!

Lows

  • 2nd inning hurt Krystle inside
  • Krystle yelling at Kalina on third and confusing her
  • Jim running the ball around trying to chase people to get them out (it’s also very funny to watch though)
  • One time Sarah was out, howwww?
  • Krystle has been spelling Hi-Low wrong this entire time
  • Denis mixing up the batting order 🙁 , that could be an automatic out 🙁

Ottawa Softball Post Game 1, SBW Comp vs Deloitte Dragons

A great first game of Ottawa softball for our Tuesday softball team! Def. see the awesomeness of a higher division, will be a great season and worth this championship! Suds, Buds and windmills post game for slo pitch softball.

Ottawa Softball Player of the Game: Trevor

Willingness to slide was badass (I couldn’t give it “play of the game” cause I don’t think anyone but the ump thought that was safe lol!). Trevor was all over the place this game, got some outs and batted 2 for 2. A great over all game. He along with Sarah also score kept when I failed at it & of course looked stunning in his SB&W’s ball cap.

Ottawa Softball Play of the game:

I am giving it to Justin for his running catch in field.

Ottawa Softball Lessons Learned:

Outfield… Don’t come in close  just cause a lady is at bat 😛 Sarah is a much better choice for score keeping. Even if it’s still a loss what a difference an ACTUAL umpire makes! wow!

softball Highs

  • Great 1st inning defensivly
  • What a difference an actual umpire makes.
  • Heather had the sneakiest hit… the ball rolled threw everyone, it was delightfyl
  • Eric wins the patience award at bat
  • Sarah & Carlos mad patience at bat as well
  • Sarah’s side catch she made look so easy!
  • The throw 1st – 3rd that Trevor and Bree made effortlessly (didn’t get the tag tho)
  • Justin ran around in the field a lot, awesome coverage
  • Eric ran home from 2nd with 2 outs and the fly ball was dropped, just a great reminder to always boot it with two outs.
  • Carlos had some good snags but def the highlight was his soft toss to Danielle for her first ever out in her first ever game. good job guys
  • Jith had a great inning at rove where he had 2 of the 3 outs.. tho… he was sorta questionable on that last out where he stood on top of Danielle.. 😛
  • Eric had a huge poke there at the end that was helpful
  • pointing out all the sexual enduendo (sp?) in my notes after the game
  • MTL game was pretty intense.

Softball Lows

  • We lost Samantha, Carlos & Martin to a different bar (literally baseball WAS on when we went in but they did change it at 8 haha)
  • The weird guy in Orange….
  • Krystle can’t count
  • So cold

Ottawa Softball Post Game 2, SBW Beer Vs FO

Suds, Buds & Windmills plays softball in Ottawa. This slo pitch softball game was played in 2014. It was Friday Game1 – May 23rd, Diamond 1 – 6:30 Vs FO. Kick off BBQ afterwards @ 74 Fair Oaks (V). Both events located in Ottawa.

There’s nothing that says team play like not wasting a HR. Any actual ball player in any league (rec, comp, beer) will apologies or shake their heads at that one guy who gets up and feels like a big man for putting it over the fence with NO one on base, over and over…it’s actually quite skill-less. Slo Pitch softball, in Ottawa doesn’t need this.  We went out on a LOSS during our last years Playoffs game because of a wasteful HR in the start of the inning, when the 2nd player got up he accidentally got under it too much (but at least actual players were on base) and it was the 3rd out, fun times.

Soooo after that slo pitch softball story, I will repeat there’s nothing that says Slo pitch softball team player, thank gawd for you, like a grand slam. Waiting, waiting till it’s not a waste, not swinging at just anything so you can just hit shit.. and when it matters (see Lawrie grandslam in United Way tourney, or Eric Delisle grand slam in Tuesday play offs last year) putting that shit out of the park.  Jith was also a huge softball team player by letting us poke fun with/at him and as much as we laughed about that 360 throw you KNOW all the boys want to try and pull it off now, hahahahaha.  “Light on the ice” – Jith to the bartender about his margarita haha, I love it.

Play of the game:

Jim taking advantage of error after error and walking smoothly into 3rd. I knowwwwww many of you will be disappointed that the play of the game wasn’t Jith’s grand slam or wasn’t Jiths 360 turn and throw, BUT I mentioned that for the player of the game and also I think the heads up base running always wins out. In addition an Angel got their wings ;), what a great day for slo pitch softball in the Ottawa region!

Ottawa Softball Lessons Learned:

Learn this umpires name cause WOW,  is in case there’s ongoing issues we can address it right away. Don’t put so much pressure on Seb & Jess!

Ottawa Softball Highs

  • Jiths smirk when I said “remember the angels”
  • Everyone of you got on base once except Seb (but next time yo!).
  • Kalina & Sarah great patience, great team plays while at bat
  • Bruce coming over to be my catcall/whistle buddy
  • Dave “Pete could of had that”  hahaha (to an impossible over the fence one haha)
  • Eric’s compliments to Seb
  • Ba ha ha ha Alex
  • Jiths Grand Slam
  • Jess throw in that Eric got down low for the nice and easy tag
  • TBIL striking out batters who don’t swing
  • Jim attempt at the sweet double play
  • Alex correcting Drew about the MLB player being a 2nd basemen
  • The constant angel jokes
  • The 1st kick off BBQ was a huge success!
  • Kalina stayed back from the cottage so she could join us at the Kick Off BBQ!
  • Bree, Rosemary Bruce & our other fans!
  • Betting on/against Seb biking to our house
  • “She also makes a mean margarita!” – Drew about Kalina

Ottawa Softball Lows

  • The moment the whole bench asks Eric  “ummm… did he/ump just ask you the rules…”
  • Drew banning me from whistling at TBIL
  • Awww poor Alex kept getting in trouble
  • Bowling ball “strikes”
  • Kalina being “tagged”
  • The TERRBILE umpire asking other team if “that was a tag”, like is this real life?
  • Aweeeee Seb at bat 🙁
  • If you can sell it, umpire will give it to you.
  • Seriously the umpire asked if you can steal bases… Smh
  • Umpire didn’t call “illegal” while in the air, yay guessing game constantly
  • Wild throws that poor Alex had to duck away from at home plate. (know the level of skill , or lack of, for your players esp at back catch. Otherwise it’s needlessly endangering actual players, this is rec ball, we shouldn’t risk injury, actual trauma because of a throw that everyone knows is impossible (for that player to catch))
