Ottawa Softball – SBW SloppIER Seconds Tournament Post game – Bjs vs dodgers

Ottawa Softball Tournament Suds Buds and Windmills Presents Sloppier Seconds

Playoffs game 1 diamond 1

Ladies and gentleman we got bjs vs dodgers in the semi final playoff game at the illustrious diamond one.

Dodgers start off at bat with two solid hits but both were caught by Center field for outs. Batter three looks determined to get on base and lines it to left field for a double next up Danika hits a single past third base to bring home the first run! The dodgers bats are on fire as Paul hits a single down the left field line! Another single with two outs loads he bases. Fortunately for the bjs the next batter grounds it to short stop extraordinaire Alex who quick tosses it to third for the 3rd out.

BJS at bat starts off slow with a quick ground out to the shortstop and a strick out to Marie-eve. Next batter has enough of the games and snacks a home run to the volleyball court.

If my math is right the game is tied at the end of the first but honestly I could be wrong.

Inning 2 starts off with a single for Lindsey and a line out by the guy after her. Another single and a triple bring homes a couple more runs. The dodgers came ready to hit and put up five more runs!

The bjs bats came up short with nothing doing!

Dodgers lead heading into the third

Dodgers bats remain hot with some singles and a double and a run or two but a nice grab in right field ends the inning!

The BJS not ready to back down bring some batters home and Greg maybe frank? Not sure his name Somalis a three run homer to end the inning.

The dodgers how ever aren’t ready to lose this game and decide to put up 5 more runs including an in the park home run and an no doubter home run!

Lots more keeps happening but nothing really not worthy and to be completely honest my attention has shifted to the rugby soccer game going on behind me!

Final inning

Paul doubles for the dodgers and a girl 3 insanely hard foul balls one off the wooden pole. Another line out brings up the bjs!

The bjs down by two said we need overtime and bring home two runners to tie the game

Overtime baby

The dodgers at bat starts off shaky with a line out and almost the second out but the runner just tagged up in time! A couple runs were brought in before the final out!

Two quick outs for the bjs ends the game dodgers win in overtime what a game!!

Ottawa Softball Tournament Suds Buds and Windmills Presents Sloppier Seconds

Here for Beer’s lead off runner hit a HR, they were held after that. Les Goodayes used up 2 of their 3 HRs during the 1st to take the lead.

Here for Beer dominated in the next inning ending at 5, while Les Goodayes got lots of hits but weren’t able to bring any in.

Just as it started to look like a blowout, the tide turned. Les Goodayes started to turn on the defence and their bats, also with a 5 run inning.

Once they pulled ahead, Les Goodayes were unstoppable. Another few tight innings Les Goodayes won 9-7 to advance to the semifinals.

Ottawa Softball Tournament Suds Buds and Windmills Presents Sloppier Seconds

H2O has some good hits in the 1st, scoring 3 off a HR. The Warriors answered with their own 3-run shot to tie the inning.

H2O scored 2 more in the top of the second, the Warriors weren’t able to get any back.

The Warriors tightened up defence in the 3rd, shutting down H2O, but they were unable to score any runs either.

The game stayed super tight until the last inning… with much tension, coming from behind, the Warriors made a few good hits and scored to take the game 10-9

Ottawa Softball Tournament Suds Buds and Windmills Presents Sloppier Seconds

First inning highlight was a smashed car on a very foul ball… so sorry whoever drives a black car now missing a back windshield.

In the 2nd inning H2O got 2 runs in with some heads up base running. H2O tried for a triple play in the bottom of the inning and the third player was barely safe… a foul out ended the inning with no runs.

H2O put up a 3-run HR in the 3rd to build their lead. Another 2 runs ended the inning with 5. So Fetch answered with a 3-run HR of their own to stay close.

H2O repeated with another 3-run shot in the 4th. Marty led off with a single HR in the bottom.

Ottawa Softball Tournament Suds Buds and Windmills Presents Sloppier Seconds

The rebals ran into a hot hitting and running team in Basic Pitches in the top of 5, where the put up 3 HR’s to start the game and get the full max of 5. The Rebals were able to get some singles in the bottom half to make it a close game 5-3.

Again a max 5 inning with some clutch hitting from the full team, including a nice double from Bonnie after TJ said she would hit down the line, put the basic pitches up 10-3. The rebals ran into some nasty pitches from Julie and went 3 up 3 down in the home half, 10-3 after 2.

Some clutch hitting from Cat, Nathan with stand up doubles back to back got Basic pitches yet another 5 inning, 15-3 after 3. Another hot hand from Julie W got the Rebals to fly out and pop out mixing up her pitches.

Some stellar base running from Basic pitches and getting out of a run down between 2nd and 3rd got another 5, to make it 20-3, a home run from Jer in the bottom of 4 made it 20-4

Again some clutch hitting from the basic pitches almost put them at another max5, but Rebals were able to keep it to 4. 24-4 final.

Ottawa Softball Tournament Suds Buds and Windmills Presents Sloppier Seconds

Southbank Dodgers were here to play with some solid defence from Cory at 3B throwing a few runners out; a nice throw from CF to 2nd got a runner out at second in the top half. A home run by Ian on Here 4 beer got the away team off to a 2-0 start. In the home half of the 1st, Southbank came up swinging with 5 straight hits to lead 4-2 after the first.

Ottawa Softball – SBW SloppIER Seconds Tournament Post game – Jager Bombers vs Savage Squad

Ottawa Softball Tournament Suds Buds and Windmills Presents Sloppier Seconds

The game was off to a quick start, with a close play from Jager Bombers lead-off runner needing to sprint to first, followed by a double play. The Savage Squad also got off to a good start, with great runs by all of their girls to score a pair of runs.

Jager Bombers kept the outfield busy, with full effort on the base running. Making infield throw the ball allowed the Bombers to take advantage and score some runs, and narrowly missing another play at home to end the second inning.

After a few close innings, the Jager Bombers hitting picked up and they had full bases with 5 on 3, but Savage Squad pulled through with their third out to stop the damage. Jager Bombers followed that up in short order with 1B putting in max effort to stretch on the ground to finish off a double play to end the inning (far from the only time he did that this game), and then started off their next inning with a solo home run that almost killed the geese in the soccer field. Savage Squad also had their own home run, in the bottom of the last inning to score some runs and try to tie it up. Savage Squad had a great final offensive inning with the pressure on, with a nice stand up double by Miranda just over centerfields’ head and followed by a home run to bring her in.

All in all, it was a pretty close game (10-8 final score, with Jager Bombers edging Savage Squad) with only a few home runs. Both teams wanted to keep going, but the teams playing next were very happy to start warming up.

Ottawa Softball – SBW SloppIER Seconds Tournament Post game – Maybe Next Year vs H2O

The second game of the day was still pretty cool, although a surprising number of players were optimistically wearing shorts.

It was a good first inning for H20 with their last players getting to town just in time to start off with a 5 run inning, then a double play by 2B to start their defense.

With the colder weather, the strategy was to keep it on the ground with a lot of nice line drives in the first few innings, and the first home run didn’t come until the third inning.

H2O continued to lead the game, with Maybe Next Year staying in the game and scoring a few runs. But H2O took advantage of some running errors to get the upper hand in this game, combined with solid hitting all around.

Ottawa Softball – SBW SloppIER Seconds Tournament Post game – Icebreakers vs Reballs

Ottawa Softball Tournament Suds Buds and Windmills Presents Sloppier Seconds

Icebreakers had some solid singles but were unable to score any in the 1st. Reballs also had some good hits including a 2-run HR.

Sarah Rose started the second inning by taking a walk, followed by a good single. The next batters all hit fielder’s choices to end the top of the inning with no runs. Tymm answered back with a single and scored with aggressive running, a few more good hits brought 3 more in behind him.

TJ made an amazing catch at 3rd to get the first batter out. Then a single was hit, then Tymm ran in to make another great grab. The Icebreakers weren’t able to score. The Reballs then started their inning with a HR, but could not follow with any other runs. Great catch by Icebreaker’s pitcher.

Icebreakers started with their own leading HR, and between a few walks and some great hits scored another. Reballs hit some strong singles then TJ drove them both in with a double.

The Icebreakers put up 2 more in the last inning, with a double then a HR, but it wasn’t enough that o catch up. Reballs win 9-4.
