Ottawa Softball Post Game 2, SBW Comp vs Pitch Slapped

SBW came out in full force for the first game of the year, looking to shake off the off-season Rust harder than Dion Phaneuf did in game 2. The bats came alive early, as a series of singles lead to Waylon smacking a bases-clearing Grand Slam, helping the buds score 7 in the frame. After earning an early game lead, it was time for the defense to show what they were made of. It was no Guy Boucher 1-3-1, but Red Tape has a tough time getting anything going. A strong pitching effort by Eric limited the number of base runners Red Tape was able to get. Strong outfield work and quick relays from Pete, Seb, Jess, Lawrie, and our taxis limited the other team to only 3 extra base hits all game. Strong defensive plays including double plays made by Sarah to Justyn with a Y and America 2.0 across the diamond to Isabelle could only be topped by Krystle also with a Y’s running, back-handed scoop catch behind 2nd base to finish the game on a high! Overall, the team looked to be in mid-season form as they started the season 1-0 with a commanding win. Let’s hope the tide continues to roll our way all season as we try to score as many runs as the beers we drink. Until next time, stay thirsty my friends!
