Softball Tuesday 2015 | Game 2 – May 19, 2015 – 6:30 pm D2 vs Fouled Balls (V)

The skies were dark and ominous and a strong gust of wind whipped up sand from the barren landscape.   No it’s not the beginning to the Mad Max movie or a post apocalyptic movie; it’s another Tuesday night of ball.  Despite the lackluster
weather, Suds, Buds and Windmills were in high spirits and ready to continue the momentum from their victory from the previous week.
Once again, the wind would provide challenges, but Eric and company would overcome it and pull a decisive victory against their opponents, Foul Balls.  Eric in his baseball pants (Krystal’s words, not mine) had the difficult job of pitching against the wind once again and despite a few walks, had another strong outing with timely strikeouts.   The defense was on point again; the only blemish was a few lapse in communications.   The outfielders, Brett, Justyn, Pete and Mark were able to take advantage of their speed to make some difficult catchers.  Newcomer, Brett, had an eventful game, almost colliding into Melissa, while making a catch.   Melisaa also also made a strong and precise throw to Samantha at home for an emphatic out, leading to the defensive play of the game.  The team also had two continuous 3 up and 3 down innings, a sometimes rare occurence last season, but defensively, the team is alot stronger than it was last year and the team has displayed it’s defensive prowess this year.
Mark had a strong performance at the plate, having two homeruns, leading him to be the player of the game; Mark’s play as a taxi also reassurance the team that whatever position he plays, the team will never have to worry about that position. Krystle also shined being 3 for 4 with two doubles.  Justyn and Pete continue their momentum as well, including a inside-the-park homerun from Pete.  Justyn and Pete might be competing for the best 1-2 tandem in the league, maybe even putting the Blue Jays duo of Edwin Encarnacion and Jose Bautista to shame.
Another Tuesday is in the books and Suds, Buds and Windmilss have notched another W.  Only time will tell if they will be able to compete with the best of the best, which in this humble writer’s opinion, they will, if the hitting and defense continues to stay sharp.
