Bat Etiquette

It is a very common practice that most Buds may not be aware of, but asking permission to use a bat from the bat’s owner is the norm. This is especially important to keep in mind when playing on other teams. While SBW tends to have all the team’s bats out near the dugout, if you see a new bat you don’t recognize that you would like to try it is best to seek out the owner and ask for permission. Bats that are kept away from the dugout or being put back in bags are being done so because the owner of the bats do not want to share their bat with others and we should respect the owner’s wishes.

Please note most of our bats are an average of $300, so please try to be careful with them. In particular when tossing them to team mates and also keep an eye on them, make sure we don’t leave any bats hidden in the dirt on the field after any at bats. This is also an opportunity to say THANK YOU, to recognize that as a Bud, you play on a team where quality equipment is supplied each game and is also lugged around by captains.
