Ottawa Softball Post Game 8, SBW Comp vs Lumberjacks

Part 1/2
It was a stormy day for the Buds. Lumberjacks started the rain early on, by dropping hit after hit throughout the field. The Buds put up a valiant effort, but could not contain the mighty axes of the opposing woodsman. We battle out of the opening inning, eager to get some of those runs back.

Seb felled a tree of his own with a 2 run shot over the fence, putting us back on track to recovery, but nothing more would come that inning.
The Jacks brought thunder with their rain in the second, blasting the buds all over. Their power caused a few trembling knees as more than one easy out was missed. Finally, Blue ended things and gave us another turn at the sticks. It was a quiet inning though as the Buds couldn’t get things moving around the bases.
Once more we took the field, and this time fared a little better against the onslaught, finally beginning to find our groove. Katya sent the jacks back on the defensive with a stellar catch in foul territory.
As with all epic stories, there is a turning point, and for the Buds, it was now. With one away Bryce came to the plate, as actual rain started to fall. Feeling like Robert Redford in The Natural, he heard the music and blasted a solo homer deep into the netting. The Buds were back in town. Everyone was feeling the energy, when Blake took the plate, ready to blast a nice liner for a base hit, or a worm-burning grounder through the gap, anything but a homer. He was completely focused, until apparently some cute girl strolled through the outfield and made him lose focus, because he couldn’t help be knock the piss out of the ball and homer for a third out to end the inning. Impressive display of brawn over brains.
But it didn’t matter, the Buds were on a roll, and their comeback was a foregone conclusion. The Lumberjacks sensed their impending doom however, and were seen to be doing a little shimmying over on their bench in what was clearly a rain dance, because just then the sky opened up and the rain came pouring down. After a brief wait, Blue gave in to the Lumberjacks desperate pleas to call the game, so they could save face.

But we’ll not let you off so easy Jacks. Next time, the Buds bring the rain…- Trevor
